Team Enfield do swimmingly in London Youth Games

Enfield’s very own swimming superstars led the borough’s youngsters to a creditable 14th place in a hard fought London Youth Games Competition this year.

Youngsters from Enfield have been battling it out with young people from across the capital in 30 competitions encompassing 20 different sports in recent weeks, as they battled to lift the Jubilee Trophy.

A particular highlight this year was a win in the aquathlon, where the borough’s very own Rebecca Adlingtons and Mark Fosters retained their title.  Team Enfield scored third place finishes in the para games swimming and female athletics, fourth place in male swimming and fifth place finishes in male football, male table tennis, female para games athletics, female swimming and male volleyball.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sport, Cllr Nneka Keazor, said: “Every year our young people push themselves to their limits in an attempts to win the Jubilee Trophy, and every year they do themselves and our borough proud.

“This year has been no exception and we are tremendously proud of the hard work and dedication they have shown in representing our borough.”
